An Introduction to Bible Structure 101
September 08, 2010
Even if you are a person who believes that the Bible is the Word of God, you might ask, "How important is the structure of the Bible?" When I say "structure" of the Bible, I am referring to a study that not only looks at the content of a book, chapter, or verse, but I am referring to study on the layout, verse postion, and other analytics that describe the relationship between verses based on a similar structural context.
If you have lived your whole life devouring scriptures and have never done a structural analysis of scripture, you are already way ahead of most Christians who only read their Bibles when their pastor says, "Now open your Bibles and turn to John 3:16." So for me to ask you to begin looking at the scriptures to observe the structure within the scriptures, is like asking you to "fish on the other side of the boat."
What more is there to "fishing" than what you already know? Remember, Peter was a FISHERMAN. He KNEW everything there was to know about FISHING. Along comes Jesus who did not have the experience that Peter did, and yet in a moments time, there were more fish in the net than could be counted. Later, the miracle of fish took on an additional characteristic. The fish were counted totaling 153 fish.
One thing that you will not notice.... there is no explaination why the fish were counted in one place, and not counted in another place. The reason I say that you will NOT notice it is because it is a detail the is merely mentioned, and there is no explaination as to why it is mentioned. In fact, you may argue that it has no significance because if it is only merely mentioned, and God would have had Paul write a chapter in the Bible about it if it was significant. On the other hand, you may argue that it IS a significant detail because the mere mention of it makes it significant.
One attitude will find no value in it and ignore it. The other may find some value in it, but may or may not be compelled to find out why it is significant. The other possibility is that you consider 153 to be a treasure map with a big sign on it saying, DIG HERE!!!
Which of the three will find a reward?
If the LIVING GOD can be found by SEEKING HIS KINGDOM, then perhaps the TREASURE of the KINGDOM, is nothing less than the LIVING GOD HIMSELF. Perhaps, He HIDES Himself in His Word.
Now... it just so happens that:
Strong's # H5785 = Hide as in the leathery FLESH of skin.
Strong's # H5786 = to blind
Is it just me, or does Strong's # H5786 = to blind give what appears to be a play on words in English?
Hide and Seek.
How do the blind see with no eyes? How do the deaf hear with no ears? The blind see with their ears, and the deaf hear with their eyes. If you are blind and deaf, then you see with your hands and you hear with your grasp. TRUTH is always TRUTH and it does not change no matter how you perceive it. The only thing that changes is your perception of it.
Jesus was the very image of God's Word manifest in human flesh. It does not matter what you think or believe about that statement, the TRUTH does not change. If Jesus IS God manifest in the flesh, then He IS who He IS. If He HIDES Himself, then He must be worth SEEKING no matter His form.
Isa 52:14 ... his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men:
Isa 53:2 ... he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
The form and structure of the Word of God has no beauty except you SEE Him LIVING in the structure of the scriptures revealing Himself to those who SEEK Him.
If you can FISH, then you can find GOD.
Notice the word distribution for the word "fish" on the left, and follow the pattern to:
Book 2:20:21 = Verse # 2073 (Strong's # H2073 = habitation, dwelling)
Exod 20:21 And the peopleH5971 stoodH5975 afar off,H7350 and MosesH4872 drew nearH5066 unto the thick darknessH6205 where GodH430 [was].
